Dynamic Steel is our "outlaw" steel match that is held on Wednesday nights throughout the year (weather permitting). The format for this match is best described as Steel Challenge meets USPSA. Matches are designed with 4-5 stages that can be completed in an hour to an hour-and-a half (depending on attendance).
This is a great match for both new shooters that are interested in giving the practical shooting sports a try and for experienced competitors looking to keep their skills sharp. New shooters need a handgun or PCC, holster, 3-4 magazines, 2-3 magazine pouches, eye and ear protection and 150-200 rounds of ammunition. Round count for the match is usually 100-120 rounds, but it is always good to bring some extra.
We will start running Dynamic Steel matches in 2019 during the week as soon as there is enough daylight, hopefully by the beginning of April. Cost for this match is $10 and re-shoots are only $5. There is no need to pre-register for these matches. All competitors and spectators are expected to sign a liability release and follow all posted safety rules for the range.
Scoring is time-plus-penalties and is kept on paper, but final results are posted on Practiscore. Just type in “DSS” on the Scores page and all of the match results for Dynamic Shooting Sports will populate on their page.
We are developing a Match Details page for a more in-depth look at the rules and how this match will be operated. Also, we have posted the stages for the first match this year so that you may become a little more familiar with the style of this match. We will also be adding stage design templates for this match that shooters can use and submit their designs to DSS for consideration.
